Cyclocross Season Update

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Derek Stallings of Bend proved his bulk was good for something when he won the Clydesdale Category at the Ranier HS CX race on Sunday. This was the 3rd race in the Cross Crusade Series and we have to mention that Tim Jones is tearing up the single speed competition this year! He races for TAI Cycling on the road and Webcyclery on the dirt. Tim has won each of the 3 Cross Crusade races in the single speed division and looks on track to win the series overall. He also has his eye on the “official unofficial” CX singlespeed world championships in Estacada on Nov. 11th.

Jeff Standish moved up to the Mast. B’s and finished very well with an 8th place.

Spencer Bushnell and Ben Thompson are fighting away in the men’s A races and doing rather well. Their overall series standings should look very good.

End of the road season…

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Although the road up at Bachelor was still snow-free, I don’t think I would have wanted to ride it. Ski season started today with fresh tracks in very nice snow at 6300′. Bill will be offering skiing “lessons” for TAI Cycling members so we can get up above the fog and have some fun in the snow this winter. We can meet at the Sno-Parks so it will just cost a donation for the grooming. So, if you want to stay in shape all winter and mix up your training, let’s do it! Start thinking about skis now, as the ski swaps are coming up fast. Skate or classic, alpine or tele; all modes are welcome.

October 5th, really good snow!

2008 Clothing Store Open

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

TAI Cycling Team members and TAI Clinic Directors may now order their clothing! You may order for friends, significant others, your children, but this is not open to the general public. Prices are pretty firm on most items but some might go down based on minimums and chamois selection. I made everything as expensive as it could possibly be, so any changes will subtract money from your total!

I don’t have really good proofs of the new stuff yet, as we’re still waiting on some logo decisions, but it’ll be pretty much the same as this year.

New for this year are GLOVES, lightweight lycra BOOTIES, a heavier VEST w/pockets, SKINSUITS with a long sleeve option and CYCLING CAPS!

Don’t forget to stock up on leftover clothing for training and winter riding — it’s cheap!

Go to the store to place your order now. Orders must be in by noon on October 15th!

Mike Brown wins cat3 Mt. Ashland Hillclimb!

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Congratulations to Mike Brown for a great race in the brutal Mt. Ashland Hillclimb on Sunday! The race was sponsored by Therapeutic Assocaites Physical Therapy, so Mike must have felt obligated to put up a good time despite “not feeling 100%.” Erik Bergstrom was 5th in the cat3’s and was riding with his father. The 25 mile hillclimb took Mike about 1h39m, which was good for 5th overall on the road side. Nice job guys!
