TAI has had a very successful season this year. Training, teamwork and nutrition all matter to us. We had used random products for fuel in the past but after much research we decided to go with Vitargo SL as our main source of race calories. The stuff is awesome and it works so effectively we had the whole team hooked on it within a couple weeks. Vitargo SL is not some product we decided to promote — we have fully tested it over many months under all race and training conditions and want to help other people find this answer to the perpetual question of what to use for race fuel.
Vitargo SL is sold in the US by Genr8 and is available mainly from GNC. Don’t be confused about the bodybuilder image you might associate with similar products, this stuff is optimized for all types of muscle work and endurance. It’s a carbohydrate free from Gluten, Sugar, Protein and Salts. And it is not maltodextrin!
Its composition means you can mix it up at almost any concentration. So you can take a single super bottle of fuel with over 1000 calories and carry another bottle of water, or get feeds in races and still have easy access to your fuel. Some people don’t like the liquid-only fuel strategy but that’s because the drinks are usually not enough fuel or hard to digest at high concentrations. We’ve really come to like this method, and it also allows you to consume your electrolyte chews or pills separately.
There are some clinical studies about how your body uses fuel and how performance is affected as a result. Check out the main Vitargo site for that.
Anthony Almada is the guy in charge of Genr8 and he has been fantastic to work with in our sponsorship. His knowledge of how your body uses fuel is intensely deep. Check out some of the question and answer videos he has about Vitargo. He’s working on some more flavors, and not that the flavors are bad, but many on the team prefer the Unflavored. This way you can mix up super bottles and not have to worry about too much flavor.
