The Mudslinger is one of Oregon’s biggest mountain bike races. It was a beautiful day, with sticky mud and long steep climbs. Congrats to:
Jill Howe: 2nd place Cat2 35+ Women
Marcus Biancucci: 2nd place Cat 2 35-44 Men
Jeff Standish: 7th Cat 2 35-44 Men
Mike Alligood: 11th Cat 2 35-44 Men
Zach Standish: finishing 5th in his first mountain bike race in the Cat 3 10-14 Men.

Jill Howe, far right
Spencer Newell had a fun ride with Spencer Gray (Etna Brewing) off the front of the Cat3 group for a very close 2nd place sprint. They spent 15 laps off the front with teammate TJ Paskewich helping control the main field.
TJ said, “Somebody once told me that it is so much more enjoyable getting someone else the result instead of yourself. I can tell you now that this is in fact the truth and my man Spencer should be proud of how hard he has worked to get to that point yesterday.”
Bill Warburton was the only TAI rider in the 1/2 field and spent most of his time bridging gaps. “It was a good race for my first race of the season. I brought a few juniors over from Bend so they could do the crit and this trip was more about them than my racing. We had a great trip and thanks to Sal for putting on a really fun race!”
Bill is now the cycling director for the Bend Endurance Academy’s Junior Cycling Program. Check out their site to see what the juniors in Bend are up to.
Thanks to Curt Hawkinson for the photos!
It was a windy, rainy day on Sunday for the Piece of Cake road race.
Jeff Standish said the cat 3 race was, “The hardest road race I’ve done in a really long time.” You can see in the before and after shots, riders were covered in grime but had a good time.
Congratulations to Karey Miles for winning the overall series title at the As the Raven Flies Time Trial Series! Karey won the first 2, while teammate Jill Howe won the 3rd race.

We had a quick opportunity to get together at Jackson’s Corners for a beer and a chat the other night. It was good to see everyone coming out of hibernation and it’s looking like we’re going to have a very solid group this year. Our biggest focus is really riding and training as a team. Everything else will fall into place after that.

As you can see, we changed the kit look. Also, the new Rudy Sterling helmets just arrived and we love them! Slimmer than last year’s helmet, and they look great with the new kit. Our main clothing supplier is Giessegi, an Italian company we use through Dohnn at Team Sales Cycling. Very nice stuff, everyone is happy and comfortable. GENR8 Vitargo has arrived, too, which we love because it helps us go faster! Seriously, GENR8 makes me feel better on the bike than anything else I eat or use in terms of equipment. If you bonk, what good is an aero wheelset?
